Sealed-bid fundraising, built properly.
A fully custom sealed-bid auction platform built for charity events — beautiful, zero-fee, and entirely under the organiser's control. No third-party cuts. No compromises. Built for people doing good.
About the platform
Existing auction platforms take a cut. Some charge listing fees. Others require bidders to register with a third party, hand over data, and navigate a product built for commerce — not charity.
We built this platform for Ellie Hill's fundraising event in aid of SMA UK and Derian House Children's Hospice. The brief was simple: a sealed-bid auction where every penny raised goes directly to the charities, with no middleman and no fees.
The result is a purpose-built web platform — dark, modern, and elegant — that lets bidders place confidential bids on items, and lets the organiser reveal winners and notify them automatically by email when the auction closes.
Every bid is confidential. Bidders can't see what others have offered — only the highest bid wins, revealed by the organiser at auction close.
When the organiser reveals results, winners receive a branded email notification instantly — no manual follow-up required.
Each auction item supports multiple image uploads, descriptions, and starting bids — presented in a polished, modern UI that does the items justice.
Manage items, view all bids, edit or remove entries, set the close time, and reveal winners — all from a dedicated admin panel with no external dependencies.
The cause
The platform was built specifically for a charity fundraising evening on 8th August 2026 at Boothstown Royal British Legion, organised by Ellie Hill.
All proceeds are split between SMA UK — the leading UK charity supporting families living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy — and Derian House Children's Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care for children and young people across the North West.
Building this was a privilege. If you'd like a similar platform for your own fundraising event, get in touch.
Supporting over 638 families living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy across the UK. Funding equipment, grants, and research for a condition that affects 1 in 10,000 births.
Providing 24/7 specialist palliative care for 400+ children and young people across the North West. Less than 30% government funded — entirely dependent on community generosity.
See it in action
Every bid is blind — nobody sees what anyone else has offered, so people bid what a lot is truly worth to them. Amounts stay hidden until the auction closes. Below is the live demo's interface, with the same lots you'll find at demo.tetherra.com.
